Reporter, Axios DC

The big picture: Axios is a company dedicated to providing trustworthy, award-winning news content in an audience-first format. We're hiring a Reporter to cover the Washington, D.C. area as part of our growing local news initiative.

Why it matters: This reporter will help local readers understand what's happening in their own backyard, getting readers smarter, faster on the news, events and local folkways that matter most to them. 

Go deeper: We're looking for a skilled writer who wants to own the biggest conversations about local news, lifestyle, sports and write newsletters that become the talk of the town. 

Requirements include:

• Authoring a daily Axios newsletter that features insights and scoops that matter most to the D.C. audience
• A command of the local market along with the sourcing necessary to illuminate busy readers 
• Experimenting with and leveraging AI for reporting and newsletter production
• Writing conversationally, in Axios' Smart Brevity style
• Helping build Axios Local and shape how the product evolves

Worthy of your time: Ideal candidates will operate with a startup mentality and an entrepreneurial spirit, and have the following skills:

• Experience covering news in D.C.
